Tarot 101: The Fool's Journey

In Tarot, the 21 Arcana cards start with "The Fool." The whole tarot story and the meanings of the cards are based on The Fool's journey and what he experienced on this journey. To start tarot from the beginning, you must learn what The Fool had faced. Let's start.




The Fool

Once upon a time, there was a young traveller, known as The Fool. He had no destination, map, or idea of what he was doing. Unaware of the dangers ahead, he did not know about his past or future. He only had his soft heart, little bag, and loyal white dog. And the only thing he knew was to go on this journey and see everything the universe had planned for him. He treated life as if it were a game, living only in the moment and finding happiness in it. Little did he know, he was right in front of a cliff and would fall off it if he took another step.



The Magician

The Fool first met with The Magician. The Magician had the four elements that could build the universe. He told the Fool that he had this and the strength to shape the world. He saw the positive side of him. He could shape the world. The Fool realized his potential, yet he could not fully grasp what he was capable of. The Magician passionately helped and taught him.




The High Priestess

His third visit was to The High Priestess. A mysterious and wise person who taught The Fool about his true instincts and opened his eyes. The Fool learned to trust his instincts. He was gaining some confidence and the ability to see the real-life slowly.





The Empress

As he continued, he came across The Empress. She was full of love and creativity. She knew the power of giving birth, to create a human being. She showed him the power of beauty, creativity and abundance. The Fool learned the world is filled with beauty and love. He has seen the potential of his growth.




The Emperor

Next, he met with The Emperor. He was strict and disciplined. He knew he was the leader. He had learned all the structures for success. Even though he was strict and responsible, he was pretty free. He loved his freedom. He was his own world leader. He taught The Fool that success comes from both freedom and responsibility.





The Hierophant

His next visit was The Hierophant. He had everything that needed to be known about traditions, spiritual highers and everything. He taught The Fool about his spiritual earnings, the doors he could unlock, traditions and the search for higher meaning.






The Lovers

Along his way, he met with The Lovers. He saw that life was full of choices and he had to make one. Suddenly, his journey mainly became about love, relationships and connection.






The Chariot

With newfound confidence, the Fool arrived at The Chariot, a symbol of victory through determination. If he wanted to achieve the things he wanted, he realized that only through focus and perseverance could he overcome challenges.






Strength

His journey took them next to Strength, where he discovered his inner power but not the physical one. He learned that courage came not from physical strength, but from the ability to face fears and stay true to himself.






The Hermit

The Fool then met The Hermit, who lived in solitude and reflection. The Hermit taught him the importance of inner wisdom, and how to find clarity and peace in moments of stillness. The Fool tried to live in the moment.






The Wheel of Fortune

As his journey progressed, he encountered The Wheel of Fortune, which reminded him that life is full of cycles and changes. He learned to embrace the ebb and flow of fate.







Justice

Justice followed, teaching the Fool the importance of balance, fairness, and the consequences of his actions. He understood that their choices shaped their destiny.







The Hanged Man

But life wasn’t always smooth. The Fool encountered The Hanged Man, who taught him that sometimes, to grow, he must let go of old perspectives and surrender to the unknown.







Death

Then Death came, not as an end, but as a profound transformation. The Fool understood that growth requires shedding the old and embracing new beginnings. He learned to let the old go and let the new in.







Temperance

Amid transformation, Temperance appeared, urging the Fool to seek balance in all things. He learned the value of patience, moderation, and finding harmony.







The Devil

However, temptation appeared in the form of The Devil. The Fool faced their shadow side, battling unhealthy attachments, materialism, and addictions. He learned that true freedom comes from liberation.








The Tower

Suddenly, The Tower struck, shaking the Fool’s world. While devastating, this upheaval was a catalyst for growth and change. The Fool learned that sometimes destruction clears the way for new creation.







The Star

Amidst the chaos, The Star shone brightly, offering hope and inspiration. He looked up to the sky and released a sigh. The Fool remembered that no matter how dark the night, there is always light ahead.






The Moon

The Moon appeared, teaching the Fool to trust their intuition and confront the illusions that clouded his vision. He already had learned to trust his inner voice. But this time the path ahead seemed uncertain. He trusted his intuitions.







The Sun

At last, The Sun broke through the clouds, bringing joy, success, and clarity. The Fool realised that true happiness lies within and that he can create his light.








Judgement

Judgement came, urging the Fool to reflect on their past, to forgive, and to renew himself. It was a time of spiritual awakening and embracing his true calling.









The World

Finally, the Fool reached The World, the culmination of his journey. He had grown, learned, and discovered the deepest truths about himself. The journey had come full circle, and the Fool had achieved wholeness and fulfilment.







And this was the Story of a young man who started his journey with nothing in his hand or head. The Fool has faced nearly everything, good or bad. But he healed, grew, saw and learned the things he could never think of. Even though this is mainly about The 21 Arcana of Tarot, You have learned a big lesson. Start your journey. It does not mean you can't do it just because you know nothing. The Fool didn't know either, but he learned. Start your journey, learn, see, and make mistakes. It's all part of life.
